Englewood, CO and Wellesley, MA (March 3, 2006) - HealthTrio and Harvard Pilgrim Health Care announced today that Harvard Pilgrim has signed a multi-year contract renewal for use of HealthTrio connect™. Under the terms of the contract HealthTrio will provide HealthTrio connect provider and member portals along with interactive health management tools. Providers quickly receive clinical and financial information at their fingertips when they need it and handle transactions online at lower cost. Interactive tools, such as an online health risk appraisal, enable members to evaluate health risks, better coordinate the care they receive, and access their medical and medication histories.Harvard Pilgrim is ranked by U.S. News & World Report and the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) as the No. 1 health plan in America for member satisfaction and quality of care, and is a leader in providing the most innovative, customer-friendly, online tools. “Harvard Pilgrim is committed to providing the most innovative and efficient online health management resources to our members, providers, brokers and employers,” said Charles D. Baker, President and CEO of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. “HealthTrio’s portal technology has made transactions easier for our members and providers, and is helping to support our push for greater transparency around health care cost and quality.” In 2001, Harvard Pilgrim implemented HealthTrio connect’s provider portal as a cost-effective method of handling administrative transactions with physicians and hospitals quickly and accurately via the Internet. Harvard Pilgrim has increased service volumes and lowered costs through reduced call center volume and claims clearing house fees, and enabled providers to experience the benefits of efficient data management and exchange. Providers have on-line access to member eligibility, referrals and authorizations, claims status and more, resulting in higher provider satisfaction. In addition to offering the HealthTrio connect provider portal, Harvard
Pilgrim began offering the HealthTrio connect member portal in 2003, branded
as HPHConnect, which provides members with easy access to benefit coverage
information, their medication profile and claims information, and helps
members manage their health care needs quickly and conveniently. The member
portal also delivers information to compare hospitals, prepare for
procedures and participate in health improvement programs. “HealthTrio is proud to serve Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, one of the most respected health plans in the country,” said Malik M. Hasan, M.D., President and CEO of HealthTrio. “The renewal of the contract confirms that HealthTrio delivers on our promise of superior e-health technology.” About HealthTrio About Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Harvard Pilgrim is the #1 health plan in America, according to a joint ranking by U.S. News & World Report and the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA)*.
